Wayanad

The name Wayanad is derived from Vayal Nadu which means the land of paddy fields. It is a charming plateau situated at a height between 700 meters and 2100 meters above the mean sea level nested among the mountains of the Western Ghats on the Eastern side of North Kerala & on the sides of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka States. The District was carved out from the then Kozhikode  & Kannur Districts. Chembra Peak, Neelimala, Meenmutty waterfalls, Chethalayam, Pakshipathalam, Banasura sugar dam are the important tourist attractions in Wayanad. While you take in the delightful sight, sounds and fragrance of Wayanad, you can also shop for specialities of Wayanad like  coffee, tea, spices, bamboo products, honey and herbal plants.
